Now that you’ve decided to apply, what should you expect?

We have a very thorough recruitment process, but its worth it for both you and our company to make sure you are the right fit. Here you can familiarize yourself with whats involved in applying and starting a career at HCSS...

Recruitment Process

Our recruitment process allows you to differentiate yourself from other people with an opportunity to demonstrate your aptitude on a simple test. The most striking feature of this test is that every single applicant that passes this test will actually have their packet directly and thoroughly reviewed by human eyes. All of our positions require a test prior to consideration of your application

Schedule Employment Test

If you are interested, please use the link below to schedule a time to take the 45 minute test. Please bring a copy of your resume with you. No resumes will be reviewed unless you pass the test. After you have taken and passed the test we will contact you if you qualify for an interview.

For a Sample Test Question click here. This question is probably harder than any question on the test. If you can successfully work it you will probably pass the test.

To sign-up for an appointment to take the test at our office, click here.

Submit an Intern Application package that includes the following

After you pass the test, submit your application package which should include:

  • A one-page summary explaining why you want this position and what your expectations are
  • Your resume/Curriculum Vitae
  • A letter of recommendation from a Professor
  • We begin accepting resumes for summer internships in April of every year.
  • Send the completed application packet to recruiting@hcss.com.

Packet Review

If you pass the test, your packet will be thoroughly reviewed by our human resource professionals for job fit.

First Interview

Some candidates will receive a phone call from a recruiter for a phone interview and possibly an in-person interview at the office.

Second Interview

We invite some candidates in for a second interview, one-on-one held on-site at our office. During this phase, you will meet with several different colleagues in the office. This will be a great time for us to get to know you, learn about your career interests and objectives, and evaluate your job and organizational fit with HCSS. This will also be a great time for you to meet employees, get to see the office, and evaluate your fit with the company.

Hiring Decision

Usually, our hiring decisions will be made within a few days of your second interview. We will inform you of our decision within a few days of the hiring decision.

FAQs

What can I expect to do at HCSS during my internship?

HCSS interns share the same job responsibilities as full-time employees in the work groups. You'll be given real work with actual problems to solve. As an intern, you'll be charged with enabling our teams to deliver top-notch products and services.

If I'm not a computer science major, can I still intern?

We don't require that you be a computer science major in order to be an intern, and have a number of non-technical internships. We're interested in individuals who have demonstrated a deep passion for their field and have a desire to learn and solve problems.

Will I work in a number of groups during my internship, or focus on a specific goal in one group?

You will commit to a specific group during your internship. It's the best way to make sure you have the opportunity to make a real contribution. However, there will be plenty of opportunities to attend discussions about different HCSS groups.

How long do internships last?

We ask that interns stay for 10-12 weeks, which we feel is long enough to dive into a project and make a significant contribution.

Will the internship be paid?

Summer interns at HCSS are paid at a rate of 10-12/hr depending on their skill and will work 40 hours a week throughout the summer.

What are the internship locations?

Our offices are located in Sugar Land, Texas (Houston).
